Series Wednesday: Timetopia Page 63

Rev has been sleeping in my bed since the castle. She says it is for my protection but I don't believe her. I think she is scared just as much as me. I hear my door open to my room I look up and look at it. "Get up it's time to go over the plan." Kora says as she stand in the door way. I shake Rev awake. "Come on she isn't just talking to me," I tell her. Rev rolls out of bed and we start to head to the kitchen where Kora has made us food. "This is the only good part of these talks is that you make us wonderful food."  Rev says as she starts making herself a plate. "So we are finally at the end of the road on this long journey." Kora says to me as she hands me my plate. "Then I can get back home." Rev says like this has just always been the plan. "Then I will be without a home or lands or even my people." I respond to both of their statements. "You will have a chance to change the world Rev lives in but we will get into all that after you retrieve the last Orb." I really want to know what her plan is for me. I hate how she only tells me a little bit at a time. "So where is the file on Charles?"  I ask looking at the table and noticing the lack of paper, unlike any of the other Five we have faced. Kora sits down with a plate of her own. "We have his walking, talking file right here in front of us."  She looks at Rev. "He is an asshole. There I taught you everything I know." Rev goes back to eating.  Kora rolls her eyes at Rev. "Well I was a afraid you might say that." Kora gets up and grabs a folder from her desk in the corner of the kitchen. She puts the folder on the table.  Rev grabs the folder quickly and starts looking at what's inside. "Wow you have our juvenile records in here..... I am not going to lie but I'm a little impressed. EWW why do you have my high school year book photo?" Rev says while ripping the photo up.  "This was everything I could find on Charles and seeing that before he was awoken in the future you were the biggest part of his life so naturally I had to research you as well."  Kora says as she pulls the folder away from Rev. Kora hands the folder to me to look at. I open it up to see a lot of Rev in it. "Charles is going to be different from the others. He isn't from our time so his whole perception on the world was very different than ours. He will think more like you Rev so he will see anything your planning coming from a mile away." Kora says. "Trust me I have thought of that already which is why I am not planning a thing Ava is going to plan it all out." I look at Rev wondering when she has planned anything since we met. She just flies by the seat of her pants as she would say it. Great now I have to come up with a plan to beat Charles who I thought was the one behind all of this but now I am not so sure.

"So do you have a plan or are you just going to lay in bed all day?"  Rev asks as she pulls the blankets off my head. "It's not like we ever really have a plan anyway. Why can't we just go in like we normally do?" I ask Rev as I pull the blanket back over my head, she rips it right back off.  "We could but Richard will kill us if we don't have some kind of a plan. He is too smart for that." Rev is shaking her head. I lay there wondering if we could just make him think we are there when we aren't or make him see two of us. I think I can do something like that with the Orb like some kind of illusion. "I think I got a plan. Get the weapons ready."  I tell Rev as I hop out of bed to start getting ready myself.  I start to put on some clothes as I am trying to work it out in my head how I am going to do this. First I am going to need to figure out where Charles is going to be.  I finish getting dressed and walk into the living room where my mom is sitting with Kora. When I walk in they both turn and look at me. "Hi Sweetie," my mom says. "Hi mom." she gets up and gives me a hug. I hold on to her, there is nothing in this world like my mother’s embrace. "I am proud of you. I know you were sad when you found out you were not my biological daughter. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love just as much as if you did come from me. Your father and I had a joke that our baby picked us. I know I won't ever see you again after this so I just wanted you to know how much I love you my sweet girl." My mom whispering all this in my ear is making the tears flow. "Where is dad?" I whisper back. "Outside," I let my mom go and walk outside. There he is standing so tall and strong with all his white hair. I hug him so tight he lifts me off the ground. "I am glad that I at least got to see you old once in my life." I whisper in my dad's ear. "I love you Aviator!" I laugh. "That's not a girl's name." I whisper into my dad's ear, this phrase is one he is use to hearing by now for it was something I said often as a young girl, I use to cry to him how my name was meant for a boy. My dad would always reassure me that a person makes the name not the name that makes a person. My dad laughs at me and puts me down. "Do you think I am doing the right thing by following Kora's plan?" I ask my dad. "I think that Kora is one of the five who created our wonderful lands and if she thinks that you can changes things for the better I have to have faith in that. I have to have faith in the daughter I raised." Once again I just feel like neither of my parents really get what is about to happen. They are just blindly following Kora. I am not sure what to say to my dad besides. "I love you dad and I am so grateful to have been raised by you."  I hug my dad. "Has she told you who your real father is?" My dad asks as he steps back from our hug. "No she hasn't nor have I asked." My dad’s face looks a little shocked by my answer. "Why haven't you asked?" My dad inquires. "I have a dad. I don’t care who might have fathered me with Kora that doesn’t make him my dad. Just like the fact that Kora mothered me doesn't make her my mom. Even if you guys would have told me you didn’t have me and none of this would have happened I would have never asked who my blood mother was. I have you guys and that is more than enough for me," I explain to my dad. His eyes start to tear up. "Ava! We need to go over the plan."  Rev yells from the front door. I smile at my dad and hug him for the last time. I start to head back to tell them my crazy idea that I hope will work.

Series Wednesday: Timetopia page 62

I sit outside waiting for Rev to come out. "Why are you out here like a creeper?" She says as she comes out handing me some grapes. "I think we should go for a walk." I tell her, she look back inside and nods yes. We start walking away from the house. "Who do you trust?" I ask Rev. "No one. That was an easy one next question." She is making a joke when I am serious. "Rev please be serious. Only 5 people have the orbs and one of them is doing bad things. So who is the bad guy?  I mean we have 3 of the orbs so that leaves 2 people to choose from. Right?" Rev stops walking causing me to stop. She turns to look at me. "Why do you think any one person is good or bad? Look Ava from everything you have seen you still haven't learned anything. No one is completely bad or good. People themselves the are mistakes, we are trial and error that is what life is about. Yes people are capable of horrific things but trying to put people into categories is what has always messed people up." I hear what Rev is saying but I don't agree. "Anyone who can kill people for no reason is a bad person."  I reply back to her statement. "No one kills for no reason. They may not all be good reasons but it does not mean they don't have one."  I am in shock that Rev is defending... well I'm not sure who she is defending. "What about Charles?? Isn't he a bad person??" I don't know where that came from but the question just blurts out of my mouth.  She shakes her head at my question knowing I don't mean to be rude but I am really just trying to figure her train of thought.  "Richard made a bad choice....... That is true, however he was never a bad person just a weak one apparently." I can tell my mind isn't the only one seeing things different because of this conversation. "Are you still going to kill him?"  I ask seeing her thoughts on that might also be changing. "Yes I have to. I know you won't understand but I am not going to kill him because I think he is a bad person, it's going to be for her. There is a saying where I am from that best explains “An eye for an eye." I look at Rev I don't think they believe in forgiveness where she is from. "Sounds like a lot of dead and blind people where you're from if that's a saying. None of this helps me figure out who is doing all of this." I feel so confused. "We are never going to make it back to my time if you keep seeing things all the same way. Since I got to your "utopia" nothing has been what it seemed. So why would you think whoever is doing this would be that easy to figure out. You are going to need to think outside of the circle for that one." Rev smiles. "Outside of the circle?" I ask I have never heard this phrase. "It works just as good if not better then a box." She laughs and starts walking back to the house. I am not sure what a box has to do with any of this.
I walk over to Kora's room; she is lying in her bed with her door open. I knock at her door. "Come in." She says without moving. "Are you okay?" I can see the tears running down her face. "No I'm not." She says so frankly. "Did your sister create the Decider?" I have been wondering since we found out about the flash drive. "No she didn't. The Decider had been around for some time before we were born. She was just one of the many doctors to work on figuring out why it only kills some and not the others."  She just seems so sad. "Erick murdered his wife?" I ask seeing if now is the time to talk about it. "What about it?"  Kora responds. "How is he a trusted friend of yours if he is a murderer?" I ask her, she sits up and pats on her bed for me to sit with her. "There is much more to Erick then you understand. He is very brilliant, which for some can drive them slightly mad. However my sister saw past the madness to his usefulness to our projects." I hear Kora's words, but Erick murdered his wife. "I don't think killing his wife because he was mad at her for sending their daughters to school is right no matter how you look at it." Kora nods at my words. "Ava you have grown up here in a land of no fear. You will never understand the life we lived nothing was ever just as simply right and wrong. Life was just a black hole." Kora just stops speaking in what felt like the middle of her thought. She sits there not looking at me even though her eyes were pointed at me it was like she was looking past me. “We should figure out who is doing this.” I tell her hoping it will light a fire under her to get her out of bed. “That won’t matter, you will go and stop all this from ever happening. We will go back to the plan tomorrow I just need a day to process everything you told me.”  Kora says as she sinks back down into her bed. I think it does matter who is doing this but I can tell today is not the day to talk about it. I get up off of Kora's bed and head back to my room to find Rev.

Series wednesday: Timetopia Page 61

I look around at all the ruins. Nothing was left, no cities or people. "How did you start over from this?" I ask looking around in horror. "We took all the children and very few teenagers. We started Timetopia with no adults, it was easier that way." Kora answers as if this was okay. "WOW! You guys just flat lined the world." Rev says as she looks around.  "Flat Lined?" I ask Rev. "It is what they call it when you die in a hospital bed. They say you’re flat lined." Rev smiles as if she just taught me something amazing. I realize that Kora has walked away from us. "Where is Kora?" I ask Rev and as the words leave my mouth Rev starts to look around. "She is gone!!!!! GREAT!" Rev and I look around and see her walking far ahead. Rev starts to run after her and I follow. Kora stops in front of a stone and drops to her knees in tears. "This is where she lays to rest." Kora can barely say over her tears. I look at Rev. "She is dead?" Rev says very confused. Kora looks back at us. "Yes she is dead. She passed away helping us make a better worlds." Kora says as she pulls her necklace out. I have seen this necklace in pictures of Kora, she is always wearing it. I can’t take my eyes off of the diamond heart locket. She keeps rubbing her necklace as if it will bring her sister back. She looks down at the ground. “Someone has been digging here.” Kora says as she points down. “What does that mean???”  Rev asks as she looks at the ground. "It means they got my sister’s locket and we are all screwed."  Kora says dramatically. "So they got her locket what's the big deal?" Rev asks.  Kora stands up and looks Rev right in the eyes.  Then she does something to her locket and a little silver piece is sticking out. "It’s a flash drive." Rev says.   I look at Rev and now even she has a panic look on her face.
"I don't understand. What is a flash drive and why is it making both of you panic so badly?" I ask as both Rev and Kora who is pacing back and forth. "It is a primitive device used to save data. It was however one of the last devices made that wasn't uploaded or connected to anything else. It is a stand alone data holder with no back up." Kora explains.  Rev whips her head toward Kora so fast. "Primitive??? Are you kidding?"  Rev says sounding offended. "In the future Rev this technology is not used like it is in your time, it was hard to find and very costly. However we knew we could not use anything on the market at the time. Everything in the future is uploaded and watched by whatever government you live under and even some that you don't."  Kora says. "What is uploaded? Why wouldn't you want anyone to see what you were working on?" I ask Kora. "Well I keep the instructions of how to make the orbs. I kept all of our research for the orb and much more other stuff. My sister on the other hand, her specialty was poisons and ways to disperse them most effectively." As Kora talks I see the look on Revs face go from panicked to focused. "So someone has your sister’s flash drive that has deadly information on it is what you’re telling us?" Rev says. "Yes it is." Kora says. "Now I am going to ask something I know that I don't want to know the answer to but I have to ask. Are the other poisons on their worse than the Decider or is that one, well one of the worst?" I am not sure why Rev wouldn't want to know the answer to this. I think this is super important to know.  "The Decider is child’s play to some of the things my sister created. She always had a flair for the how to despiser the poisons as well." Kora responds not breaking eye contact with Rev. "Well I'm glad she is dead." Rev says heartlessly. "REV THAT WAS RUDE!" I tell her. She just shrugs at me. "My sister was not a bad person. We all did what we had to. You would not understand the world we were raised in." Kora is defending her sister.  Rev starts looking around. "Yeah I wouldn't understand anything about that. Do you see those trees in the distance?" Kora and I look at the trees that seem to have gotten closer somehow.  "Are they moving closer?" Kora asks. "Seems like it." Rev response handing me a gun out of her backpack. "I think it’s time for us to leave if trees are closing in on us. What do you think?" I ask "Someone stole that flash drive. Someone who can brain wash people and make trees move. So I think leaving is a great idea, but that's just me." Rev says as she keeps her eyes on the trees.  I have the gun in hand not really sure where to aim it. "Your right whoever is doing this has done a lot already. We shouldn't stick around and let them ruin our plans." Rev and I look at Kora when she says that. Does this mean she still wants us to destroy Timetopia? Kora pulls out the orb and opens a hole for us to go back. Rev runs through first and I follow. I am afraid of what else is on that flash drive. I wonder if Kora has a plan for that as well. I know she is my mom but there is so much about her I don't know or if I even trust her. But seeing how broken up she was over someone digging up her sister makes me feel like maybe I should give her more of a chance. I just have questions that need answers at some point.

Poem: a dying plant trying to bare fruit

I can survive
But I haven't lived a day since the day you left my sights.
Living was never a thing I did.

I always just knew how to survive.
You saw past the party girl and the bottom of the bottle I call home.
You saw the burn makers that were so scarred in my soul.
The wounds infect on little girl behind closed doors.
But I knew how to survive.

I was raised that way.
By the truest survivor.
But that a story for another time.

This is about my misguided love for you.
Was it even you i loved?
Or the me you made me into.
Build a girl up just to watch her fall.
I'm sure that was never your intention.
That is just how this love story played out.
But here I am the little survivor.
A misguided youth thinking she could save those around her.
A dying plant still trying to bare fruit to feed the ones she loved.
Never really living but always ending up on top.

Because when you don't care where you end.
There is only up.

Series Wednesday: Timetopia Page 60

West pulls out his orb and looks into it as a red light shines into his eyes. It lights up after it’s done. "Here now you can combine them." He tells me sticking his orb out. I connect the orbs and that's when I see it. I see Kora sitting in a long hallway with a bunch of other people. She was so beautiful I feel over whelmed.  I hit the floor. "AVA!" Rev is shouting in my face. "I'm okay. It's just the memory he saved in his orb." I look at West. "Why is that the only memory you put in there?" West looks at me for a little bit. "It was the day my life felt like it began." He gets up and walks out of the room.  "We should get going." Rev says, I don't feel right just leaving. I get up and follow him. "I am sorry she hurt you" I tell West. "It's okay........... It's not your fault you know and for the record you’re nothing like her."  I look at West, how could he say I am nothing like her. Is that a good or bad thing? "I am not sure how to take that.  Kora is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I mean she is a little pushy but still very nice." I see West eyes change as I speak. "Kora was raised in a country that made girls become scientist or hookers. Since she was a young girl that all she was raised to do, fake pleasure and give the illusion of love as well as being brilliant. So a lot of her emotions can be questionable. You are genuine that's the difference.  You should be on your way." West gave me a hug and walked away. I guess it's time to go.

Rev and I are laying down looking at the ceiling. "West really wasn't what I expected." I tell Rev replaying our conversation in my head. "Have you asked Kora about what he said?" Rev asks me. "No, I am not sure if I even want to ask her anything. Plus by the time we got here last night it was late."  Rev rolls her eyes at me, I can't see her but I can feel it.  "Chicken!! You need to know why she didn't tell you she married West or the fact that Erick killed his wife. You know things that might have been good to know."  I look at Rev. She knows I am not like her. I don't want to ask Kora anything. "If you care so much why don't you ask?" I tell her. "You know I don't care, I'll ask her right now. Come on. See how the big girls do it." She laughs as she gets up off the bed. She walks out into the living area, Kora is not in there. She walks outside and there she is sitting with the children in the garden. "I have a few questions for you." Rev says to Kora. Kora looks at all the children around her and smiles. "I have to go now as should all of you." All the children go back to their homes. Kora looks at Rev, "Well spit it out." She says to Rev. "You found my mother." I stop and look at Rev that wasn't the question I was expecting. "Yes I did. I was not sure how to tell you so I left it to Ava." Kora answers as she stays seated in the garden. "Okay. Well I would like all the details on what you found." Rev responds. "Of course, there is a file on the kitchen table ready for you."  Rev smiles at Kora's response. "Thank you. Now Ava has a few questions for you." Rev says and pushes me forward and walks away.  Kora smiles at me. "I figured you were going to have some questions after West." Kora say as she motions to a spot next to her on the floor. I sit next to her and think about my words carefully. "Yeah I do. I don't understand why you wouldn't have told us you were married to him or that Erick killed his wife. However none of that is important right now. We took West to the future and things were not what you think. West and the others were being brain washed. Also some kind of poison was brought back, it's called the Decider." I watched Kora's face change as the worlds leave my mouth. She starts to shake her head no and gets up and runs to the house. I follow her as she storms in. "NO NO NO!!! It can't be possible!" She keeps saying over and over again. Rev turns and looks as she rushes into my room. "Where is it Ava?" she asks me. "I am lost where is what?" I ask her. "Where is the orb?"  I look at Rev. "Calm down and tell us what’s going on." Rev tells Kora. "If the poison is back it means something so much worse. I need the orb!" She is frantic at this point. Rev has the orb but I can see she isn’t going to give it up. "What does it mean?" I ask her calmly.  "It means they found my sister. If someone found her, which is if they have we are in a world of trouble. More then you could imagine." Kora face is full of fear. I look at Rev and nod for her to hand the orb over.  Rev pulls the orb out of her pocket. "Where is your sister?" Rev asks before handing it over. "Somewhere I thought no one would ever find her." Kora says as she reaches for the orb. "So she is here in Timetopia." Kora laughs at my question. "She is the founder of Timetopia."  Rev hands it over. Kora closes her eyes and the orb lights up. Rev grabs my hand and then grabs onto Kora, we all go flying. I hit the ground hard. "Why would you do that?" I hear Kora yelling at Rev. "I wanted to see where you were going." Rev says as she gets up. I look around and there is nothing around us. There are no trees or grass and the ground has no growth of any kind. "Where are we?" I ask. "This is the beginning of Timetopia. Before we came up with the serum to erase people. We had to rid the world of its old ways and this is what was left."

Poem: The boy with the whimsical heart

It's the strange miscellaneous moments that make me love you.
The times I catch you dancing to no music
or making funny faces when you're trying to be serious.
It's simply the way your heart bleeds for any one in need.

You are defiantly not an old soul.
No one would ever accuse you of that.
Your baby face would defend this fact until the end of its days.

We were not the path either of us in tended when we came to this coast.
But it was your unwavering strength that ended us up hand in hand.

So as I lay here with you fast asleep in my arms.
I gaze upon you adoringly.
For you knew long before I did we were not a faze but a love that would amaze.

With all the love in that heart of your I know we will never cease to grow

The guarded girl and the boy with a whimsical heart.

Series Wednesday: Timetopia Page: 59

I look at Rev and West who are arguing about what to do with the orb. I can’t stop looking at future West tapping on his chains. It is starting to drive me crazy.  So I walk over to him and look at his chains. He reaches out and touches me I step back and he goes right back to tapping. His chains look like the ones in Timetopia. They have the locks that come undone with my blood. I give my hand a small cut and put it on the lock and wait for it to unlock but nothing happens.  They must use someone else’s blood. Future West is reaching out to me again but this time he looks at me with the saddest eyes. I grab his hand to comfort him. He turns his arm over, I don’t understand. I look at his arm but he has sleeves on so I pull his sleeves up. Maybe he is uncomfortable in his chain. I look down after rolling up his sleeve he has cuts on his arm. I look at him and he looks at me. Could it be that his own blood unlocks his chains. That would be risky. I cut him with my pocket knife. “What are you doing?” West yells at me. “I am seeing if his blood unlocks his chains.”  I reply as I put his blood on the locks and they unlock. “Why are you trying to set the brain wash zombie free?” Rev asks me. When the chains come off I hear a loud alarm. “It’s lighting up.” West yells I turn and look back at him the beam is starting to come out of the orb again. “It’s going to get all of us and brain wash us if we don’t leave.” Rev yells as she runs over to me and grabs me. I pull out my orb as West drops the one with the beam coming out. Rev grabs us as I drop my orb to through us threw the orb back to the past.
I wake up on the floor with my orb in my hand. I start to look around and I am in my house. "Ava?" I hear as I open my eyes. I see my mom. "Mom, how did you get back to the house?" My mom looks around nervously. "Sweetie I am not sure what you're talking about." I start to really look at her. She is much younger. I sit up and see Rev and West both still sleeping. "How old am I here?" I ask my mom.  "Your 6," my mom answers. This explains her tone when she first saw me. I start to wonder why I threw us back here. Or even what day it is. "What is today?  Is it a special day?" I ask my mom.  "No today is not anything special. You are sick which is highly unusual but they say it is growing pains." I look at my mom. I don't ever really remember getting sick as a kid. "Where am I? I mean little me from this time." She points to my room. I get up and walk over to my room to see my dad lying in bed with me holding me as I slept. I do remember this day. Both of my parents stayed in bed with me all day. We played games in bed. No one and nothing else mattered that day.  This was a day I felt safe and happy. I just forgot I had been sick. This must have been why I sent us here, to a safe place. "Ava are you okay? How did you get here?" My mom whispers behind me. "I am Kora's daughter I used her time machine." I can hear my mother gasp at my words. I turn around I need to get Rev and West out of here. I start to shake Rev. She opens her eyes and looks at me. "This isn't West's house." I look behind me at my mother. Rev looks at my mother and her eyes widen. "Oh that's where we are. You got to get us out of here before he wakes up." I nodded yes. I turn to my mom and give her a hug. I can’t say a word and she doesn't say anything either. I squat next to West and drop the orb making an opening on the floor. We push West through and follow right behind him.
We are back at West's house. We are all drinking chocolate almond milk. "So are you going to give me your orb?" I ask West. "Yes I have no problem with giving it up if that’s my future with it." West says. "Well that's good now we don't have to kill you. Although killing you still sounds like a super good idea. I mean it will be better than there ever being a possibility of becoming a brain washed zombie." Rev says as she sips her milk. "There are just so many unanswered questions. Like who turned my orb on me. Who is the real master mind behind the future? I would also like to know how they got the recipe for the Decider. Oh and I am not ignoring your comment Rev we just both know you can't kill me so why pretend." West laughs. Something he said just caught my attention. "What do you mean the recipe for the Decider?"  I ask him. “Well the Decider is a poison it’s made up of a bunch of different elements. They have to mix it together a certain way to get the poison just right.” West explains to me. “So who would have that information?” I ask West. He shrugs. “I am not sure it was from my country. I think it was from Kora’s or Lilly’s. No wait Lilly's was bombing. It had to be from Kora's. Maybe that's why they killed her in the future for the recipe. Otherwise she would have just been brain washed with the rest of us.”  West says. He makes a good point but who does kill her in the future? "Why kill Erick then?" Rev says West looks at her. "I forgot about him. He wasn't in the future either. That's strange especially since making poisons and studying the way they affect the brain was his specialty, plus the fact that he is the only one of us who has ever survived the poison." I look at West. Erick is the nicest person I had ever met.  "What how did he get poisoned with it?" I ask. "Well his country was the one under attack from Kora's country. Erick was one of the survivors who was put on the task of ridding their lands from all the bombs and poisons that were left in the soil after all the wars. That's how he met his wife. She was a survivor to. Too bad about their kids." West must be talking about the night they were bombed. "Well they were born during war. He should have expected them to get bombed." Rev says. The way she says it is not her normal I don't care attitude this was something different. "They didn't die in the Great Ending." West says a little confused. Rev looks at me. "What is the Great Ending?" I ask. "It was when all the bombs fell on what was left of the world and they gathered only the smartest from each country to survive. They started calling it The Great Ending. But Erick's kids didn't die then. They died along with all the kids that were poisoned. They didn't survivor The Decider like their parents. They were killed in school with all the other kids. Erick went crazy after that. It was one of the reasons I didn't want to work with him. How can you work with a man who slit his own wife's throat?"  West words hit my ears like a brick. "HE DID WHAT!?" Rev and I say at the same time. We both look in shock. “Yeah he went crazy. I guess his daughters were not supposed to be in school. His wife was supposed to be home schooling them. He knew something like this was going to happen, so when it did he was angry. When he went to trial he said he didn’t remember killing her. Just coming home and being angry.” I can’t believe what I am hearing.
