Series Wednesday: Timetopia page 38

I hold out the orb and picture Erick. His image appears and I feel the pulling feeling so I pull back. “Are you ready?” I ask Rev “I mean out of all of them I feel this one is going to be most boring.”  Rev says as she walks through.  I follow behind her grabbing the orb. We walk right into Erick’s office.  He’s at his desk reading. He looks up at me and Rev. “It is time to give up my orb, I am assuming.”  He takes his glasses off and rubs his eyes. “Yes it is.” He pulls out his orb and puts it on the desk. “So that’s it, you’re just going to give it up. Just like that?” Rev asks him. “Yes, this was never what I intended like I had told you before. If the future is really as horrible as Kora says, this might be the only way.” I look at Rev. The look on her face, she looks almost confused. “You didn’t see the future for yourself?” He stands up and looks at Rev. Erick puts his glasses back on. “No I haven’t seen the future. You see, there is a lock on the orb only Charles’ blood could unlock it. Kora stole some to unlock her orb.” He picks up the orb and hands it to Rev. She looks down at it. “So I can’t work this thing?” She says as the orb sits in her hand a useless piece of glass. “No you can’t, but Ava can. She just can’t unlock the things I have locked with my blood. That is why you are here talking to me instead of just taking the orb. You need my blood to link the orbs.” Rev shakes the orb in her hand and laughs to herself. “What is so funny?”  She looks up at me. “Trust me, even if I explained you wouldn’t get it.” I shake my head and I look back at Erick. “Okay so how do we do this?”
Erick has me put his Kora orb in my hands, it lights up and Erick has it in his hands. “I am just unlocking it. Don’t think about anything Ava, keep your mind clear.” How did he know I was thinking about my mother? I look down at the orb and there is my mom’s face. That is probably how he knew. I look at Erick’s orb to see a face. I think it’s his wife’s face. I look at him. “They can be for much more than just time machines. I see the pain in his eyes. The same that I saw in Kora’s the day she gave me up. “Are you sure about this?” He nods. “Anything is better than this. I should’ve passed on instead of kept on living. Without her it is all endless time. I would rather live in a world that she died in, then a world that she never came to be. It’s hard to miss someone who was never born.” I see the tear fall from his eye, onto his cheek. He cuts his hand, as I connect the orbs together, and they begin melding together. He steps back and all of the sudden the orb sends a shock through my body.
“Ava are you okay?” I hear far away. But when I open my eyes, I see the girl in the orb. I am holding her. I don’t understand time, it just starts moving fast. She is pregnant and I am singing to her tummy as I see a little girl born. I get this over whelming feeling of joy and accomplishment. Watching this little girl take her first steps and her first words, “DAD.” She says that while running toward me after what feels like a long day at work. Her warm embrace. She was so cute with her long black hair straight as a pen. She has the cutest little button nose. She makes me carry her around everywhere I go.  I don’t ever want her to let her go. Time is moving fast again and what feels like the love of my life. She is pregnant again. I can feel the excitement. I see the second baby being born. It’s another girl, I hold the tiny baby girl in my arms. Again my heart over flows with a love I can’t explain. I start to watch her grow as well. Her first steps and her first words. They were both perfect in my eyes.  The phone rings and it’s my boss telling me to come in. I go to see the bombs go off. The feeling of loss and emptiness overcome me.

I open my eyes to see Rev standing over me. “Are you okay?” she asks. I feel like crying. I look up at Erick. “Did you know that was going to happen?” He shakes his head no.  “I know that the orbs can do much more than just time travel. They store memories and can pass them. Which is what you just experienced, but I have never seen it happen just like that. It must be because you are reconnecting the orbs. What did you see?” I sit up.  “I saw your life. I felt your life… the joys and the pains.” I get up and hug him. I feel for him, now knowing what he went through. Just all of it. I look at Rev who is holding both the orbs. The orbs combined are slightly bigger but not much. “Will this happen when I keep connecting the orbs? Will I feel everyone’s pain and memories?” Erick shrugs. “I don’t know if everyone put their memories in their orbs. They might not have, but it is a possibility.”

Series Wednesday: Timetopia page 37

“No that world I came from will never be. Why do you think I had you listen to the story? You can stop all of it.” What she is asking is a lot for just me. “I could barely even make it here to you. Why do you think I can change anything in a world where people don’t care?” she walks over to me. “Because you are my daughter and Rev will be by your side. I will give you a road map on how to change things. But first you have to get all the orbs so no one will try to stop you or change things on us.” I am not sure how she wants me to get these orbs. “Will they just give me the orbs?” She shakes her head. “Sadly no but Erick will he is sick of this life. He never wanted this either.” That must be why Erick told me his story. He knew that I was going to need his orb. But how do I get it? Will I need to go back to him? “So is that where I start with Erick?” Kora’s eyes light up. “Yes, Erick is the best way to start. There are just a few little things. You will need his blood to connect the orb to mine. The orbs only work for the ones they are programed to. But once you connect them to mine they will work for you.”  How do these orb work? They need to be connected? Great more things I didn’t know. “Why do I need to connect them?” Seems like a fair enough question. “You have to have all 5 to get to the day when the machine was built. But you are going to have to do this right. After getting each orb just come back to me. I will help you with everything and with which orb to get next. Just be sure you follow the list.”  I nod yes. “I can take Rev with me right?”  She nods yes.

“There is something about Rev you should know.” Kora says to me as I turn to go get her for our adventure. “What is it?” I turn back around to look at Kora. “Has she told you her story? Of her nun mother and her adoption?” I am not sure why Kora is asking me. “Yes she told me how she was left on a city bus. The nun took her in and adopted her. Why?” Her eyes get really fixed on me. “Well that’s not the whole story.” How does she know that? “Okay well what is the whole story? I mean Rev isn’t the most forth coming person.” Kora’s body language has changed and I am not sure why. “As a thank you for helping me I was going to tell Rev who her parents really were. So I went back to the past. That’s when I found out I had known who her parents were all along.” She knows who Rev parents are. I wonder why she is telling me and not Rev. “Okay well I’ll go get her and you can tell her. I am sure she would like to know.” I start to turn away to go find Rev, Kora grabs me. “I don’t know her like you do. I am not sure how she will take the news. So I am going to tell you and you can decide how to tell her.” I don’t think I want to know whatever it is she is trying to tell me.  “If it is going to hurt her I don’t want to know!”  Kora’s face somehow gets sharper. Her already protonate cheek bone seem to be razor sharp now. “She wasn’t abandon like she thinks. This is pretty common knowledge in my time. But in her time it’s still a secret. The country she is from well they started testing on embryos. Trying to make a smarter more durable future. However most of the babies born during the experiment couldn’t survive the kind of mutation they were doing to the embryos. Only three that were born have been known to have lived. Well two were twins who were raised by the government and the other one was lost in a horrible fire.” I don’t understand the government didn’t raise Rev, unless that’s the big deal she didn’t know. “So the nun worked for the government?”  Kora shakes her head no. “Rev was the baby lost in the fire. I think someone started the fire so that they could take Rev out. But Rev has an older siblings who were raised by the government. The two babies that survived came from the same surrogate. That’s why Rev heals so fast. It’s why she never really gets hurt. Her DNA is different.  Their research changed the way some countries produced children in the future. Like West’s country, he is much more than just a scientist. He is genetically more aggressive than the rest of us. When you get his orb you will need Rev.” I am so not sure exactly what all of this means.  But I did hear the part about siblings Rev doesn’t know about. I wonder what they have done to them, from what Rev told me about what her own government did to her when they thought that she told their secrets. I am not sure how to tell Rev this. Why is Kora leaving such a thing up to me?  “Why am I the one who has to decide to tell her? Why not you?” she sighs. “It should come from someone she trusts. I am not sure how hard this is going to be for her.” I walk outside and Rev sees me right away. “So what’s the plan?”  I shrug. “We need to get back to Erick in my time.” Then come back to Kora to figure out who is next on the list.” She stops walking. “Wait what exactly are we doing?” I show her the orb. “We are collecting the other 4.” Her face changes “Oh, this is going to be war. Who is first?” I look at her “Erick is the first one on the list.”

Series Wednesday: Timetopia page 36

She says it like this means something to me. None of this shows me why she had to have me. I stand there just looking at her as confused as I feel. “No, I don’t see why you had me.” She looks over at me. “To change all of this from happening, to stop this from ever coming true.” I don’t understand how I am going to stop this. “How?” She looks past me. I turn to see what she is looking at. Rev has her gun out pointed at some man. “What is that?” He is asking about the gun. “Want to find out?” Rev asks. Kora walks up to Rev and pushes the gun down. “It is time to go back. We have been here long enough.” Kora puts the orb down on the floor and walks through, Rev and I follow.  I don’t have that falling feeling, but a gliding feeling instead. We are back in the Timetopia we came from. I have even more questions for Kora now.  Rev still has the history book in her hands. “Give us some time?” Kora says to Rev. “Sure thing, I have a comedy to read anyways.” She waves the history book as she walks out the front door. “She is a character, isn’t she?” Kora says as she walks over to the kitchen. She starts to make tea. “Did you have me to fulfill some kind of plan?” She puts the pot of water on the stove. “Yes I did.” I wish I wasn’t hurt by how easy her answer is to say. I saw the pain she felt when she was trying to give me away. That however doesn’t change the way I feel right now. I really wish it did though.  I saw how much she loved me, but that might now change because of why she had me. I was not made out of love, I was made for something else.
“I know that might not be what you wanted to hear... I can see the pain on your face.” I know I had all these questions I wanted to ask, but none of that seems as important as this. “What do you need me to do?” she hugs me, “It’s simple. I need you to destroy the time machine.”  She releases her embrace and hands me the orb. “How?” She points to the sofa. I don’t want to even look down at the orb. I don’t know where it might take me. “You will need all of them. Then you can go back to the beginning and destroying them. Or well back to the future. Whichever way you want to look at time, I suppose I look at time differently.”  She wants me to go back and make sure the time machine was never made. This is to intense! How can I do that? I need some air. “I need to go outside.” I stand up to head to the door. “I know this is a lot to take in Ava, but it’s the right thing to do. No one should play god. Not the way we did.  If you change things and go back with Rev to a time where people had free will, maybe you could make a difference.” I hear her and maybe she is right. But what about Timetopia? I wouldn’t be able to save it. I walk outside and she doesn’t stop me. Rev is out here playing with the kids. I watch her for a bit. She is laughing and so full of life. Rev is completely different than anyone I have ever met. She makes her own choices, not caring at all what others think. Even though I think they are wrong sometimes, they are still hers.

“What’s wrong?” my mom walks up to me as I sit there watching Rev and the kids. I am not sure what to tell her. So many lies she told me and yet I understand. “She wants me to make sure the time machines were never built, she wants me to time travel and make a new world.” My mom hugs me and just being in her warm embrace makes me want to say no. “Do it.” She whispers in my ear. “What?! How can you say that? Everything we know would be gone.” She smiles at me. “If Kora feels like this is the best way, well sweetie it is the best way. There are a lot of things here in Timetopia that I knew nothing about before the museum, but ever since that day… Well I see now. Kora said if you change things people will have the right to pick what kind of life they live and we will all have freedoms we never thought possible.”  I look at her. I love my mom and I always thought of her as the smartest woman I knew, but today I see she is much like the others. She believed what they told her, she wasn’t like me always questioning things. So now that Kora is telling her this new world is going to be better she believes her. I, however, heard Erick and Kora’s stories. The world they came from is not the one I want to bring back. A world of war and pain, a world where Rev was locked in a hole. I realize my mom is not the one to talk to about this. I kiss her on the cheek and head back inside. “Why would you want a world like you came from to ever be possible? If I go back and stop you, that is the world that will be.”

Poem: Addicts can't see.

The lies he told.
The addiction he couldn't shake.
His life he so willing takes.
With out him the world would be an empty place.
He might never see the good i see.
He might never know the fears that he unwilling creates.
The family who's love he unintentionally abuses.
The life he is just losing.
The years that are already gone.
All to feed an addiction.
As hard as it is to see, it is not only he who loses.
Addicts never think of everybody,
all the pain they cause.
All the love they have lost.
addiction is a killer to not only body
But also to mind and soul.
Of not just the addict but everyone who loves them.

Poem: loves different sides.

Since i was 13 you have been my..
Best friend when i needed it.
A lover as we got older.
More then a boyfriend or companion.

Even when we weren't together your door to me was always open.
To say you didnt leave deep scars on my heart would be a lie.
But to that i would need to mention how you held my hand everytime the world failed me.

There has never been a point in my life when i didnt know if you would be there.
I always knew all i had to do id look for you.
You would follow me to any ends of the earth.

Your the love in my heart.
The ground in my shaky world.
My Rock that hold my day dreaming mind to the ground.

I love you for all of that.
....and so much more.

Series Wednesday: Timetopia page 35

I wake up in a bed. I can’t believe she just sent me back like that. “I’m sorry I did that. I just couldn’t handle it that day. That was the saddest day of my life, seeing you hurt me more then you understand... seeing how much of your life I missed.”  She walks farther into the room. I sit up.  “Are you going to tell me why you had me if you knew they would kill me? You keep saying you had a reason but you’re not telling me anything.” I make eye contact with her. “I told you we would need to go to the future for that. You would need to see something for yourself before understanding my choices.”  She just keeps saying that. “Well then when are we going to the future?”  She walks out of the room. I get up and follow her.  “You want to go dressed like that?” I look down at my pajamas. I turn around and walk to the room and grab my dress to change into. I run back out. “I want you to use the time machine. You’re going to need to learn how to use it.”  She hands me the orb.  “I am not going with out Rev.” She smiles. “Okay ill go get her.”
We all stand in a circle. “This isn’t hard, when the orb lights up think of 500 years from now. After you start to feel like you’re going to fall, step back. Okay?” I nod yes and look at Rev. “You got this. I am right here.” Rev says.  I look down at the orb as it lights up. I start to get the falling feeling and I drop it on the floor and step back. “Good, now we just walk through the light.” Kora says as she walks over to the orb. Rev follows right behind her, then I follow.  As I’m walking through, I see Kora reach her hand in past me and grab the orb. I look around and this isn’t the Timetopia I know. There is some kind of castle in the middle and all the houses are facing it. “Where are we?” I ask. “We are in a kingdom it seems.” Rev says as she looks around. “If you play god long enough, you start to lose sight of ones humanity. You start to long for the worship of others, but only the truly sinister controls their people with fear.”  Kora says. Here is that talk of god again. But this time it sounds different. “So is that what happened here?” I ask her. “That’s what always happens.” Rev says. “We need to go into the city for you to see.”  Kora starts to lead the way to the kingdom, Rev pulls her gun out and I follow behind. I see all of the house are in a circle around a big castle. Almost as if the castle is the sun and all the house are like planets.  As we walk through the city I see the houses. They are nothing like ours, they have carvings in the sides of them. Carvings of 3 of the Five. I stop and run my hands over the stone walls. “What is it?” Rev asks. “Look its Charles, West, and Lilly.”  Rev walks over to the house and looks at it. “Kora where are you?” Kora walks over and looks at the carvings. “I’m assuming they killed me.” I look at Kora. “Why would you say that?” I ask, then a loud dinging starts coming from the castle. “Come, you will see. We need to follow all the people coming out of their houses to go into the castle.”  We start to follow them as they all walk to the center.

“Welcome my people, it is time for you to say thanks. For us.” West says as he welcomes the people to the center. I only see the three of them. “Why are they still young?” Rev asks Kora. “We don’t age like normal people any more. We think it’s all the time jumping but we aren’t sure.” The people are on their knees chanting to them. I don’t understand. How can this be? They are putting gifts at the end on the stage they are on. Charles and West are in some kind of fancy armor and Lily in some kind of dress. The people are in burlap sacks practically.  I walk away from the… not even sure what to call this. Rev is walking into the people’s homes. “Hey look what I found!” Rev says waving me down. I walk over to her. She has a book in her hand. “What is it?” She is reading through it. “It’s a history book. Yup… Kora was right, they killed her and Erick. It says here they are immortal after killing Kora and Erick.” I look around and see Kora circling one of the houses. I walk over to her. “They did kill you. Rev found a history book.” She is running her fingers over the stone. “I figured they did. I would never agree to this, coming from the hell I was born into. This was never my intention for the future… to enslave people.” Kora won’t stop looking at the carvings. “Wow, they rewrote history completely. They don’t even talk about the time machine. They say they bent the will of those who oppose them. WOW! Talk about a huge ego on these guys.” Rev says as she continues to read. Kora looks at me, “They kept the people uneducated and with the lack of knowledge they enslaved them. To boost their own ego. Now do you see why I had to risk everything to have you?”

Poems: May 9, 2015

This moment moved me.
Change my way of thinking.
I see the world in a new light.
No more seeing the world as a war to fight.
I started to see the goodness even in me.

But like all good things,
They must come to an ugly end.
The world seems darker today.
On the day where the light felt once like it began.

Series Wednesday: Timetopia Page 34

“What does all of this have to do with you having me?” She just keeps looking at the photo album. “You might not see it right now… but it has everything to do with you. Timetopia was supposed to be an endless utopia. Somehow it seems to be the start to something much worse……” She stops talking and has a concerned look on her face. “How does it get worse?” She stops. “That’s something I would need to show you.” She stands up and goes to grab something. Maybe another photo album? She walks back with the orb. “We would need to go to the future for me to answer that.”  She tries to hand me the orb. I get up off the table. I am not touching that thing. “Why are you trying to give me that thing?”  She laughs as she walks towards me. “It’s the time machine.” I look at the crystal orb in her hand. I am in disbelief that that is the time machine.  “Don’t be afraid. There are just some things in life that you have to see for yourself to believe and this is one of them.” I shake my head. “I have been taught my whole life to trust what I am told. I don’t have to see things to believe. Plus, I thought only the Five can use the time machines.” She smiles and hands me the orb. “This is why we made the laws to not have children. You see you can use any of our technology because you are my daughter. Any of our offspring would be able to use our technology.” I wonder if she has those nano bites in her blood and passed it on to me.  “Is it the nano bites?” She has a confused look on her face. “Nano bites?? Rev tell you that?”  I nod yes. “She said that it’s most likely why my blood unlocks doors.” She is shaking her head. “No, although we do use nano bites in the all of you. Its DNA. You’re my DNA so you can use anything the Five can.” DNA?? “DNA? What is that?” She sits back down. “Right… we didn’t teach you guys DNA so that way you could never use it against us.  But the short version is that every person is made up of DNA. It gets past down from your parents to you.”  She stands back up and tries to hand me the orb again. I take the orb.
The orb pricks my hand and the orb lights up. I look down at it and I see my mom holding me as a little girl.  “Don’t look too deep or it will take you there.” I look at Kora. “I don’t understand. Why do you want me to use it? Why don’t you just show me what you think I need to see?”  She pauses. She stays so still like she is frozen. “You will need to know how. But we can get into all that later.” She puts her hand under mine. She looks into the orb. I see her holding me as a baby. She is crying as she holds me. I am getting the feeling like she really didn’t want to give me up. I let go of the orb. “NO!” she yells. I feel like am falling. I hit some kind of floor. I look up and Kora is in front of me with baby me. Somehow I came back here. “Who are you?” She pulls a gun on me. I can’t move out of fear. “I said who are you!?” she yells now.  I point at the baby. “That’s who I am.” Is all I can seem to get out. She looks down at me in her arms and back at me. She puts the gun down.  She puts me in a crib. “How did you get here?” I look around not really sure where here is. “I am not sure. You were trying to teach me how to use the orb and well when you touched me this popped up in the orb. Next thing I knew I was falling.”  She helps me up. “I didn’t grab you before you fell. Okay. How do you feel?” I stand up and the need to throw up is becoming overwhelming.  She points at the bathroom and I run over to it.

I start to feel much better. I walk back out and there she is standing over what is my crib I guess. I’m not very sure how all of this works. She is crying still. “Why are you crying?” I ask her, she looks up at me. “I have no choice but to give her up. I mean you, I have to give you up. Or they will kill you. Not erase you, they will murder you to teach me a lesson. I didn’t think I would feel this way. I knew I was going to have to give you up until it was time. That’s what the others do.”  I had no idea. She seems so torn up.  She seems to really love me.  I look down and I’m already 6 months old. She kept me for a bit. This must be why there are no baby pictures of me.  I want to hug her but I don’t know if that would help. “How do you know they will kill me? Maybe if they see how much you love me they will let me live.”  She shakes her head. “No they won’t. You’re not the first baby to be born to one of us, but we all made a deal I didn’t keep. For a good reason, but I didn’t keep it.”  They must’ve killed a child. “Who was the baby?” she walks away from my crib and walks out of the room, so I follow her. “West had a baby one of his years. We couldn’t risk his child using our technology or changing things, so we voted and the child was killed. We decided not to erase the child because it was decided for all of us that we needed to feel the pain if we for some stupid reason we decided to have kids. We would know that our child would be murdered.” She grabs her orb. “Then why have me?”  The orb is lighting up. “Look I’m sending you back. I get that you have a lot of questions, but I just want to spend time with my baby before I have to give her up. The me who sent you here can deal with those questions” The orb lights up and I feel like I am falling again.

Random short Story: The girl with the head in the clouds

There was once a girl with her head in the clouds. The earth was a place she never wanted to journey down to. How ever everyday her mom would shake her saying "you daft girl pay attention. some day you will need this." But in her mind she knew this to be untrue for anything here was completely useless. The other kids would tease her not that she could hear them from her own world. They thought her strange. There was nothing here for her.
One day the other kids decided it was time for her to deal with them. So they tied her to a tree. She didn't mind you see. She likes not having to talk to them. Her body she had left behind. Her mind to far in the clouds she couldn't even see them if she looked down. The other kids really didn't like this. one in partial was very bother by this. We will call her little miss leader. She convince the other children that they must torture the girl with her head in the clouds. For she thought she was better then them and for that should be punished. The other kids agreed. But she didn't see them her head to far from her body to even care. Lost in the clouds she truly was. They tried everything from putting sand in her food to gluing her to her chair. She didn't notice the sand just thought her mom bought bad peanut butter again. Being glued to her chair made it that she had to stay in class at break. To her this was a true blessing.
Nothing they did made a difference. Finally little miss leader couldn't take it anymore. She decide it was time for a real storm. She thought for day and then weeks. How would she make her see. The girl with her head in the clouds just kept walking just the same. She was unfazed by the other girl's unwarranted hatred. She lived each day exactly the same. Waking up and leaving this her body behind just the same. All the cruel things they did to her she really didn't mind.
After weeks of little miss leader struggling with how to punish girl with the girl head in the cloud.  She finally realized there was nothing she could do. This plan fact spun her head. In that one moment she fled. She ran right up to the girl with head in the cloud and grab her. She started to shake her so hard she ripped her shirt. That is when she noticed something strange about the girl. She had bruises all over her body. Little miss leader knew not what to do. All she could do was step. Head in the clouds just laid there on the floor. "Are you okay? I would really like to know?" little miss leader asked. The girl came down from the clouds. "No i am not." Her response shocked the girl. For the first time she actually look at her. Pulling up the girls sleeves what she saw was completely unpleasing. Little miss leader right then knew. Some one was torturing this poor girl so bad she had to escape the pain. So the girl had made her own world in the cloud. It was for her the only safe place. Little miss leader drop to her knees. she knew she was wrong and had only added on to this poor girls pain. She got right up and came up with a plan to save her. She was going to go home and tell her mom, she would know what to do. Her mom called the cops and the next day they were to save the girl.
The girl never came to school that day. She was killed by her mother boyfriend. She no longer had her head in the cloud. She felt she had a friend and fought back. He killed her unintentionally. She was never saved. Now she is nothing but a memory only to live in the clouds she once hid in. Little miss leader felt awful for years to come, knowing that if she had just stop to really look at the girl with her head in the cloud even just once. She might still be here.
